If anyone is wondering where John Leffler is, he was seen racing down the highway on a Suzuki Hayabusa ending his journey at Marulan Race Track on a freezing Sunday 17th<\/sup> April!<\/p>\n

We have been very fortunate over the years to have had John involved with our team here at Brickwood Motorsport.\u00a0 He has been instrumental in the building of the infamous Brickwood Motorsport Holden VK Commodore.\u00a0 Furthermore he has trained the majority of our drivers in the finer points of car control.<\/p>\n

At our Marulan Track Day John came along to give the VK Commodore a work out on the track, he also sat beside a few of our drivers including up and coming driver Daniel.\u00a0 We thank John for his time and hope he did not freeze too much on his way home!<\/p>\n

For those not familiar with this racing legend, here is a brief history……..<\/p>\n

John Leffler is a former Australian racing driver. John is best known for driving open-wheelers and winning the\u00a0Australian Drivers’ Championship\u00a0in 1976 in a Lola T400. His career has spanned many decades and cars.\u00a0 His achievements include:<\/em><\/p>\n

–\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Second in the <\/em>1969 Rothmans 12 Hour Classic<\/em><\/a> <\/em>at\u00a0Surfers Paradise driving a Morris Cooper<\/em><\/p>\n

–\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 First in 1973 TAA Formula Ford Driver to Europe Series in a Bowin P6F<\/em><\/p>\n

–\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Third in 1974 Australian Formula 2 Championship<\/em><\/p>\n

–\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Second in 1974 Sandown 250 Touring Car event with Bob Morris racing a Ron Hodginson Team Holden Torana GTR XU-1<\/em><\/p>\n

–\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Fifth in 1975 Gold Star Australian Drivers Championship driving a Bowin P8<\/em><\/p>\n

–\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 First in 1976 Gold Star Australian Drivers Championship driving a Lola T400.\u00a0 It was this race that demonstrated that consistency is better than hot and cold.\u00a0 John won this championship with consistent placings but never actually won a round.<\/em><\/p>\n

–\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Second in the 1978 Bathurst 1000 Touring Car event with Alan Grice in a Craven Mild Racing Holden LX Torana SS A9X Hatchback<\/em><\/p>\n

With this sort of career, we have been very lucky to have John involved with our team here at Brickwood Motorsport and with us personally for as long as I can remember!<\/p>\n
